Eliza Langton

c1794-1861

Eliza Wiggins was born in Greenham Berkshire. She married James Langton on the 23^rd August 1818 at the parish church of St Mary Thatcham Berkshire, both were single.

James was born on the 28^th January 1798, he baptised on the 9^th March 1798 in Newbury the son of John and Mary Langton (nee Stroud) who were married on the 1^st October 1780 at St Nicolas Church Newbury.

Known children of James and Eliza were:

Mary and Thomas (possibly twins but not stated as such) baptised 25^th January 1824 at St Nicolas Church Newbury (Thomas died aged 1+ he was buried on the 16^th December 1825 at St Nicolas Newbury)

David baptised 2^nd September c1832 at St Mary Greenham

Eliza born c1836 in Greenham

The 1841 census records James (45) as a Labourer, living in Stroud Green, Newbury with Eliza (45) a Laundress, David (7) and Eliza (5).

In the 1851 census James (56), Eliza (57) and their daughter Eliza (20) were again recorded living in Stroud Green, James was recorded as a Maltster.

James died aged 53 in 1851 he was laid to rest on the 1^st August at St Mary’s Greenham.

Eliza died aged 67 in 1861, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 19^th January.
