Mary Cawle was born in Ecchinswell, Hampshire, she married Richard Jordan (born c1788) on the 30th May 1810 at St Nicolas Church Newbury, (both were single).

Richard and Mary had the following children:

John born c1810 (no baptism found)) (died aged 6 buried on the 11th March 1817 at St Nicolas Newbury)

Charles baptised 28th March 1813 (died aged 9 months buried on the 10th December 1813 at St Nicolas Newbury)

Caroline baptised 6th November 1814

George baptised 3rd November 1816 (died aged 16 buried on the 20th February 1833 at St Nicolas Newbury)

William baptised 4th October 1818

Richard baptised 18th January 1820

Robert baptised 15th July 1821 (died aged 1+ buried on the 4th January 1823 at St Nicolas Newbury)

Sarah Emma baptised 16th November 1823

(Baptisms: St Nicolas Newbury, Richard recorded as a Labourer on Charles baptism and a Gardener on all other baptism records).

In the 1815 census of Newbury Richard (27) (no occupation recorded), Mary (31), John (5) and Caroline (an infant) were recorded living in Perris’s Yard on the east side of Northbrook Street, Newbury, also recorded in the household was a Samuel Russ (40), a Hairdresser.

In the 1841 census Richard (50) was recorded as a Gardener’s Labourer living in Northbrook Street, Newbury with his wife Mary (55), his son William (25), a Butcher and his daughter Sarah (15).

Richard died aged 53 in 1844, he was buried on the 30th August at St Nicolas Church Newbury

The 1851 census records Mary (66) as a Pauper, formerly a Servant, living alone at 4 Simmons Yard, Newbury.

Mary died aged 78 in 1861, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 6th April.
