Charlotte Girdler

1843-1867

 Charlotte was born in Newbury Berkshire she was baptised on the 25^th June 1843 at St Nicolas Church Newbury the daughter of Adam and Sarah Curtis (nee Danvers) who were married on the 5^th October 1834 at St Nicolas Newbury.

He father Adam was baptised on the 24^th November 1813 at St Nicolas Newbury he died aged 67 in 1879, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 27^th September.

Her mother Sarah was born c1812 in Newbury she died aged 77 on the 29^th September 1888, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 2^nd October.

Adam and Sarah also had the following children:

Emma Maria 1841 (died 1842 aged 1)

Victoria 1845 (died aged 2 in 1848)

 The 1851 and 1861 census records record Charlotte living in Mayor’s Lane Newbury with her parents and siblings.

Charlotte gave birth to a daughter, Sarah Ann in June 1861, she was baptised on the 16^th August. (No father recorded on the baptism record). Sarah Ann died aged 5 months she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 8^th November.

 Charlotte married Charles Girdler.

They had the following children:

A daughter born in 1862 (no name recorded at time of birth registration in the June quarter) who died soon after birth, she was buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 6^th June (buried as infant child of Charles Girdler).

Mary Ann Girdler born in 1864

Charles James born in 1866, died in 1867 (death was registered as Charles Girdler aged 0 in the March quarter), buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 30^th March 1867 as Charles Girdler.

Charlotte died aged 23 in 1867 just before her son Charles, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 21^st February

Charles remarried in 1869 his 2^nd wife was Sarah Piper, they had ten children.

Charles died aged 50 in 1890 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 12th July.
