Hannah Franklin
1793-1861
Hannah was born on the 13th January 1793 she was baptised on the 10th February 1793 in Thatcham Berkshire the daughter of John and Hannah Robbins (nee Gray) who were married on the 20th April 1786 at St Mary’s Thatcham. (John was from Bucklebury)
John and Hannah also had the following children (all baptised in Thatcham):
Matthew baptised 14th December 1788
Sarah baptised 4th April 1790
Elizabeth born 16th December 1796 baptised 8th January 1797 (married James Osgood 1819 in Bucklebury)
William born 28th October 1794 baptised 16th November 1794 (died aged 3 buried 27th December 1797)
William born 2nd March 1799 baptised 17th March 1799
Anne born 11th February 1801 baptised 8th March 1801
John born 2nd December 1804 baptised 6th January 1804
Hannah married (as Hannah Johnson, 1st marriage not found yet!) Thomas Franklin on the 5th October 1839 at St Mary’s Thatcham.
Thomas was born c1803 in Thatcham. He was a widower when he married Hannah. (1st wife Ann Adams, married 26th December 1825 at St Mary’s Thatcham, children (all baptised in Thatcham) Charlotte 1826, Harriet 1829 (died aged 5 buried on the 8th February 1835 at St Mary Thatcham),Eliza 1832 (died aged 1 buried on the 14th March 1833 at St Mary Thatcham), Jane 1834 and John 1836. Widowed 1839, Ann (35) buried 21st April at St Mary’s Thatcham)
In 1841 Thomas (35) and Hannah (45) were living in Cold Ash with Jane (5) and John (4).
The 1851 census records Thomas (48) as an Agricultural Bailiff living at Northway Farm Cold Ash Road Thatcham with Hannah (58) and Jane (17).
The 1861 census records Hannah (68), as a Bailiff’s Wife, in the household of her married sister Elizabeth Osgood (64) in Cold Ash.
Hannah died aged 64 in 1861 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 24th May
The 1871 census records Thomas (68) as a Retired Farm Bailiff living in Cold Ash, his granddaughter Eliza Mary Marcham (10) (daughter of James and Jane Marcham (nee Franklin)) was recorded living with him.
Thomas died aged 73 in 1876 he was laid to rest on the 31st March at St Mark’s Cold Ash
