James Jesse Breeze Cook was born in Newbury, the only son of Jesse James Breeze and Eliza Cook (nee Wilson) who married in Newbury in 1848. James had 5 sisters, Elizabeth Ann born 1849, Eliza born 1853 (died aged 1 in 1855 buried in the NRC as Eliza Breeze Cooke on the 20th March), Alice Breeze born 1856, Fanny Breeze born 1858 and Sarah Jane Breeze born1863. All the girls births were also recorded with the surname Cook.

James died aged 6 months in 1862 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 24th December

His mother Eliza was born c1831 in Newbury the daughter of John and Dinah Wilson (nee Moody) who were married in Speen Berkshire in 1810.

His father was born on the 14th July 1829 in Hampshire he was baptised (as Jesse James Breeze Cook Breeze) on the 20th September 1829 in Odiham Hampshire, the son of James and Ann Breeze.  (no marriage found for James Breeze and Ann Cook yet!).

In the 1841 census Jesse was recorded as Jesse Breeze (12) living in Caroline Place Newbury with his father James Breeze.

Jesse was a General Dealer.  In 1851 the family were living in Winchcombe Place Newbury, by 1861 they had moved to Jack of Newbury Street. In both these census details the family were recorded with the surname Cook

By 1871 the family were recorded with the surname Breeze they were living at 19 Jack Street Newbury, Jesse was recorded in this census as a China Dealer.

Eliza died aged 45 in 1876 she was laid to rest (as Eliza Breeze) in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 15th January.

The 1881 census records Jesse Breeze (51) as a General Dealer living at 21 Jack Street, his granddaughter Ada Breeze (4) was living with him. The 1891 census also records Jesse as Jesse Breeze (61) living at 21 Marsh Street Newbury, Ada (14) was still living with him,  he was recorded as a Bill Poster.

Jesse died aged 63 on the 8th January 1892 he was laid to rest (as Jesse Breeze) in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 12th January.
