Sarah, her parents, siblings and early life:

Sarah Ann was born in Donnington Berkshire the daughter of Thomas and Eliza Thatcher (nee Challis) who were married on the 22nd March 1828 at St Nicolas Church Newbury).

Her father Thomas was born c1800 in Donnington Berkshire.

Her mother Eliza was born c1810 in Newbury.

Thomas and Eliza also had the following children:

Thomas 1838 (died aged 3 months buried at Shaw-cum-Donnington 27th March 1839)

Charles 1840

Thomas 1842 (died aged 41 in 1884 buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 23rd January)

The 1841 census records Sarah (6) living in Speenhamland, Berkshire with her parents Thomas (35), a Blacksmith and Eliza (30) and her siblings William (10), Joseph (8), Edward (3) and Charles (1). (ancestry have the family surname recorded as Thobe Lee and familysearch.org have recorded it as Thahchee).

In 1851 Sarah (16) and the family were recorded living in Back Lane, Newbury. Thomas was still working as a Blacksmith.

By 1861 The family were living at the Star Inn in Speen. Thomas was recorded as a Blacksmith and Victualler.

Thomas died aged 64 in 1865 and was buried on the 31st January at St Mary the Virgin Speen.

After Thomas died Eliza continued to live in Speen until her death in 1875, she died aged 66 and was buried on the 23rd July at St Mary the Virgin Speen.

Sarah:

 Sarah Ann married James Allder in 1854 (marriage registered in Newbury).

(James was a Sawyer, he was born c1828 in Newbury the son of James and  Mary Allder (nee Preston) who were married in 1820 in Winterbourne Berkshire).

James and Sarah Ann also had the following children: (all born in Newbury)

Henry 1856 (died aged 4 months 1856, buried 15th August at St Mary the Virgin Speen)

George 1857 (died 1857, buried 20th December at St Mary the Virgin Speen)

Elizabeth Ann 1859

Twins: Rosa and Ralph 1871 (Rosa died in 1872 buried 23rd October in the Newtown Road Cemetery)

The family were recorded living at 19 Waterloo Place, Newbury in 1861 and 1871 and Mill Lane, Bruton, Somerset in 1881.

In 1891 Sarah and her son Ralph were living at 2 Siddib Cottages, Newbury. James was lodging in Salisbury Road, Savenake, Wiltshire.

The 1901 census records James, Sarah and Ralph living at 2 Siddib Cottages, Newbury.

 Sarah died aged 64 in 1902, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 12th March

Sometime after Sarah’s death James moved to 12 Church Almshouses, Newbury. He died aged 69 in 1908 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 25th July.
