Husband of Mary Denham Gedge
From Kent & Sussex Courier Friday 24 March 1876:-
Death of Mr. Kerr Gedge. Our musical readers will leam with regret of the decease of Mr John Kerr Gedge, which took place at Mentone (at the Hotel Grande Bretagne?), on Tuesday last (21st March). Mr Gedge was well-known and much esteemed in Tonbridge and the neighbourhood. He held the appointment of Gentleman of Her Majesty’s Chapel Royal and Assistant Vicar Choral of St. Paul’s Cathedral, and in the musical world was considered very promising and rising tenor.
Some years ago Mr Gedge held the appointment of Music Master to the Grammar School, Tonbridge, and while there his talent and amiability of disposition—for he was a kindly, warm-hearted man—secured for him a large and sincere measure of personal regard. His decease (from phthisis) will be learnt with much regret.
He was 35.
