Henry Bellinger was born in Greenham in 1822. He married Amelia Woods in Newbury in Dec.q 1842. Their daughter Eliza Jane was born in 1843.
In 1851 he is an Oestler at the White Hart Tap and by 1861 he was the Publican. The White Hart Tap should not be confused with the White Hart Inn although both co-existed in the same building. The Inn being on the market and the tap being in Wharf St., He took over as landlord from a George Challis (1846-49) and seems to have been landlord till 1864. He was a coachman in his latterlife and in 1881 is found at Claremont Mews in south Bersted near Chichester. When his wife died he came to live in Newbury again with his daughter in 1891 who was now an Eliza Langton and living in Wharf St.
