William Thomas Lamdin and Miriam (nee Underwood)

William Thomas Lamdin, the son of Thomas Lamdin and Elizabeth, nee Simms, was born on 14th March 1856 in Newbury. The 1861 census sees him, age 5, living at 5, Trafalgar Place Newbury, where he was a scholar. By 1871 he had left school and was working as a carpenter’s apprentice. He was still living with his parents at the same address.

He married his wife Miriam, nee Underwood, on 25th March 1878 at Wickham. Miriam was the daughter of George Underwood of Welford and Elizabeth Vawkins also of Welford. Miriam was born on 17th October 1857 in Speen, the 6th of 11 children.

William and Miriam had 6 children. By 1881 they were living on Enbourn Road, where William is now shown as a joiner his occupation on all the following censuses. By 1891 they had moved to 4, Craven Terrace. The 1901 census finds them living at 3 Dorchester Villas moving by 1911 to their final home 27 Gloucester Road Newbury.

William Thomas died on 22nd July 1930 aged 74. He was buried on 26 July 1930.

Miriam died on 28th April 1938 aged 80 She was buried on 3rd May 1938.
