Benjamin was born in Newbury

The 1815 census of Newbury records Benjamin (25) living with his mother Mary aged (49) in Northcroft Lane Newbury

Both the 1841 and 1851 census records record Benjamin as Independent, living in Northcroft Lane Newbury.  In 1841 he was recorded aged 50, living with his mother, Mary (75), a Shop Keeper. In 1851 he was recorded aged 62, lodging at the “Drummer” Beer House with a Sarah Wheeler (34) and her husband Walter Wheeler (37) the Publican.

 His mother Mary died aged 78 in 1844 she was laid to rest on the 1st April at St Nicolas Newbury

Benjamin died aged 72 on the 25th March 1861 he was laid to rest in a private grave in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 28th March.
