Rosannah Jennings

According to the 1851 census Rosannah Young was born in Newbury she married Henry Jennings (born c 1826 in Newbury) in 1849

Marriage details:

Place: Holy Trinity Dartford Kent

Date: 15th July 1849

Groom: Henry Jennings, bachelor, full age, occupation: Sawyer

Bride: Roseanah Young, spinster, full age

Fathers: John Jennings, occupation: Sawyer and James Young, occupation: Ostler

(Henry was born c1825 in Newbury the son of John and Charlotte Jennings (ne Harbor/Harber) who were married on the 24th October 1819 at St Nicolas Church Newbury)

Rosannah and Henry had the following children:

John 1848 (before they were married, birth registered as John Jennings MMN Young in Dartford)

James 1850

Henry 1852

Pleasant Louisa 1855

Susan Maria 1857-1858

 

After they were married they moved to Newbury. The 1851 census records Henry (27) as a Sawyer’s Labourer, Rosanna (22), John (3), James (6 months) and a visitor Eliza Young (27) living in Mills Yard Newbury.

Rosanna died age 30 in 1859 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 26th March

In 1861 Henry was working as a Sawyer, living in Bradley’s Yard with his children, John (12), James (9), Henry (8) and Louisa (6) (Pleasant Louisa) and his widowed mother Charlotte.

Henry died aged 37 in 1862 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 21st May.
