Eliza Parr
c1818-1879
Eliza Harrison was born in Newbury the daughter of Richard and Mary Harrison (nee King) who were married on the 1st September 1810 at St Nicolas Church Newbury.
Eliza’s family and early life:
Her father Richard was born c1786 (place unknown) he died aged 62 in 1848 and was buried on the 24th March at St Nicolas Newbury
Her mother Mary was born c1785 in Newbury she died aged 71 in 1856 and was buried on the 22nd December.
The 1815 census of Newbury records Richard Harrison (32), Mary Harrison (33), Sarah Harrison (3) and Joseph Harrison (1), living on the east side of Bartholomew Street with a Mary King (60) (possibly Mary’s mother)
In 1841 Eliza (20) was living in Bartholomew Street Newbury with her parents and siblings, Richard (55), a Carpenter, Mary (55), Joseph (25) and Edward (15).
In 1851 her mother was recorded living in Bartholomew Street Newbury with her son Edward (26), a Carpenter, daughter-in-law Maria (25) and grandson George (7 months).
Eliza’s husband Thomas Parr
Thomas was born on the 19th November 1811 in Greenham Berkshire he was baptised on the 22nd December in Greenham, the son of Stephen and Elizabeth Parr (nee Mott) who were married in Burghclere Hampshire in 1807 (Stephen was recorded as being from the parish of Greenham Berkshire).
In 1841 Thomas (25) was living in Greenham Common with his parents Stephen (55), a Carpenter and Elizabeth (55) and his siblings Elizabeth (20), Mary (19) and George (15)

The 1851 census records Thomas (39) as a Carpenter and Wheelwright, Eliza (31), Clara (7), Eliza (5), Henry Thomas (2) and Stephen Richard (6 months), living in Newbury Wharf.
Their daughter Ann died aged 1 on the 12th September 1855 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 17th September
Their son Edwin George died aged 6 months on the 22nd June 1859 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 25th June
In the 1861 census Thomas (49) was recorded as a Carpenter and Wheelwright living in Pelican Yard Speenhamland Newbury with Eliza (43), Clara (17), a Dressmaker, Eliza (15), Henry Thomas (12), Stephen Richard (10) and Mary Ann (4).
In the 1871 census Thomas (54), a Master Carpenter, Eliza (52), Eliza (24), Stephen Richard (14), a Carpenter’s Apprentice and Elizabeth Alice (9), were living at The Cricketers, Crown Street, Thatcham, Berkshire.
Eliza died aged 61 in 1879 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 16th April
Thomas (69) was recorded as a Carpenter and Innkeeper in the 1881 at The Cricketers Crown Street Thatcham his daughter Elizabeth (20), a Dressmaker, was recorded living with him
In the 1891 census Thomas was recorded as a Builder, living in Westcombe Villa Crookham Berkshire with his son Stephen (40), a Builder and his daughter-in-law Emma (53).
Thomas died aged 83 on the 16th June 1895 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 20th June
