Amy Nash

c1804-1856

Amy was born in Newbury the daughter of Joseph and Ann Tomkins (nee Mitchell) who were married on the 7^th November 1784 at St Nicolas Church Newbury.

The 1815 census of Newbury records Amy (12), living in Chubb’s Yard on the west side of Bartholomew Street Newbury with her parents Ann (52) and Joseph (53), a Shoemaker.

Amy’s mother died aged 73 in 1836 she was buried on the 11^th May at St Nicolas Newbury

Amy’s father died aged 76 in 1838 he was buried on the 26^th February at St Nicolas Newbury

Amy married William Nash (born c1804 in Middlesex) on the 24^th July 1834 in Aldermaston Berkshire.

 In 1841 the couple were living in Northbrook Street Newbury and William was working as a Carter.

The 1851 census records William as a General Labourer living at 12 Simmons Yard Newbury with Amy.

Amy died aged 52 in 1856 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the28th January.

William remarried in 1858 in Newbury his 2^nd wife was a widow, Hannah Curtis (nee Moore), born c1792 in Shaw Berkshire. They were living in Bartholomew Street Newbury in 1861, William was working as a Garden Labourer and Hannah was working as a Needlewoman.

Hannah died aged 82 on the 17^th December 1874 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 21st December.

William died aged 74 on the23rd December 1878 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 26^th December
