John Taylor

1869-1874

John was born in Reading Berkshire he was the son of David and Ann Taylor (nee Harris) who were married on the 29th July 1866 at St Peter’s Church Walworth St Mary Newington Surrey. David was born c1846 in Witney Oxfordshire and Ann was born c1846 in Basingstoke Hampshire.

David and Ann also had the following children (all born in Newbury):

Mary Ann 1871 (died aged 1 month buried in the NRC on the 17/10/1871)

Mary 1876

David 1878

Rose c1881

Albert 1884 (died aged 0 buried in the NRC on the 1/1/1885)

In 1871 John (1) was living with his parents David (25) and Ann (25) in Back Lane Newbury, his father was working as a Sawyer.

John died aged 5 in 1874 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 19th December

By 1881 the family had moved to Greenham Street Newbury.

John’s mother died aged 37 in 1884 just after giving birth to her son Albert she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 13th October.

John’s father remarried in 1885 in Newbury, his 2nd wife was Mary Jane Ralph (born c1842 in Woodhay Hampshire).

The 1891 census records David (45), as a Steam Sawyer, living in Mary Hill Newbury with Mary (49), David (12) and Rose (10).

Both the 1901 and 1911 census records record David and Mary living in Old Newtown Road Newbury, David was recorded as a Firewood Dealer.

David died aged 74 in 1920 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the10th July.

Mary Jane died aged 86 in 1929 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 14th January
