Charlotte Simson

1850-1850

Charlotte was born in Newbury she was the daughter of John and Caroline Simson (nee Coleman) who married in Newbury in 1843.

Caroline was born c1815 in Newbury she was the daughter of James and Sarah Coleman (nee Morris) who married on the 12th September 1805 at St Nicolas Church Newbury.

John was born John was born c1815 in Hagbourne Berkshire.

John born 1851 Newbury (died 1851 buried as John Simpson on 10th September 1851 at St Mary the Virgin Speen)

Oliver born 1853 Newbury

Sarah born 1857 Newbury

Charlotte died aged 3 months in 1850 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the13th July.

The 1851 census records John (35), as a Groom, living at Lamb and Castle Yard Speen Berkshire with Caroline (34) and their children, James (6) and Caroline (3). (The family name was recorded as Simpson on Ancestry)

In 1861 John (43), Caroline (45), James (15), Oliver (8) and Sarah (3) were recorded living in Back Lane Newbury. John was working as a Horse Dealer’s Labourer. By 1871 John (56), Caroline (56), James (25), Oliver (18) and Sarah (13) were living in Speenhamland. John was working as a Horse Breaker, and James and Oliver were Ostlers.

Caroline died aged 57 in 1871 (surname recorded as Simpson) she was buried on the 27th December at St Mary the Virgin Speen.

In 1881 John (63), James (32) and Oliver (27) were living in Backway Speen, all three were working as Grooms.

The 1891 census records John (76), James (43) and Oliver (36) living at 9 Eastbourne Terrace Speen, James and Oliver were recorded as Grooms at a Livery Stables.

John died aged 83 in 1898 he was buried on the 18th February at St Mary the Virgin Speen.
