Joseph Miller

He was the son of John and Mary Miller and he was baptised on 29 July 1787 at St. Peter Parish Church, Portesham, Dorset.

On 30 October 1813 he married Mary Elkins at St. Nicolas Church.  In the 1815 Joseph Toomer Census he is recorded trading as a Cabinet Maker in Cattle Market Lane on the East Side of Bartholomew Street.

The next record is the 1841 census and he has moved with Mary to Victoria Place, Cheap Street.   Ten years later they are recorded living at 2 Madeira Place; Joseph is still working as a Cabinet Maker.  Their niece Harriet Miller, aged 21, a Dressmaker, and born in Newbury, is living with them.

He died a year later on 11 October 1852, aged 66 years, and he was buried on 19th October.
