Jesse Breeze
1829-1892
Jesse was born on the 14th July 1829 in Hampshire he was baptised (as Jesse James Breeze Cook Breeze) on the 20th September 1829 in Odiham Hampshire and was the son of James and Ann Breeze.
Jesse was recorded as both Jesse Cook and Jesse Breeze as follows:
The 1841 census records Jesse Breeze (12) living in Caroline Place Newbury also recorded in the household was James Breeze (40) not born in county, occupation: Hawker, Judith Breeze (45), William Bowles (15) and Harry Bowles (12).
Jesse James Breeze Cook married Eliza Wilson 1848 Newbury (Eliza was born c1831 in Newbury).
Jesse and Eliza had the following children:

Eliza Cook 1853 (died aged 1 in 1855 buried in the NRC as Eliza Breeze Cooke on the 20th March)

On the 30th June 1848 at the Newbury Borough Sessions Jesse Breeze (19) was found not guilty of assaulting a Peace Officer.
In 1851 Jesse was recorded as James Jesse Cook (22), occupation: General Dealer, he was living at 3 Winchcombe Place Newbury with his wife Eliza (recorded as Elizabeth) (19) and their daughter Elizabeth (1).
On the 8th July 1857 at the Newbury Borough Sessions Jesse Breeze was aquitted of stealing half a crown and 2 shillings from the person of Harriett Pettiford.
In 1861 Jesse J B Cook (31) was recorded as a General Dealer living in Jack of Newbury Street with his wife Eliza (30) and daughters Elizabeth (11), Alice (5) and Fanny (2).
The 1871 census records Jesse James Breeze (42) as a China Dealer living at 19 Jack Street Newbury with Eliza (39) and their daughters, Elizabeth Ann (21), Alice (14), Fanny (12) and Sarah Jane (7).
Eliza Breeze died aged 45 in 1876 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 15th January.
The 1881 census records Jesse Breeze (51) as a General Dealer living at 21 Jack Street Newbury his granddaughter Ada Breeze (4) was living with him.
The 1891 census records Jesse Breeze (61) as a Bill Poster living at 21 Marsh Street Newbury his granddaughter Ada (14) (recorded as Ida) was still living with him.
Jesse Breeze died aged 63 on the 8th January 1892 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 12th January.
