Robert Roy Wheeler

1860-1861

Robert was born in Newbury he was the son of David Dines and Emma Anne Wheeler (nee Pung) who were married in Newbury in 1859. David was born 1837 in Speen and Emma was born 1839 in Newbury

Robert died not long after he was born he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 25th January.

David and Emma also had the following children:

Margaret Elizabeth 1862 (died age 8 in 1870 buried in the NRC 12th November)

Charles William 1864

Katherine Emilie 1866 (died aged 4 in 1870 buried in the NRC on the 16th November)

Emma Annie 1868

In the 1861 census Robert’s parents were recorded living in the Broadway Newbury David was recorded as an Engraver and Worker in Metals

The 1871census records the family living at 45 Northbrook Street Newbury.  David was recorded as an Ironmonger & Machinist and Emma was recorded as a Dressmaker.

David died aged 34 on the 1st April 1872 (his death was mistakenly registered as Daniel Dines Wheeler) he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 6th April.

It’s possible that Emma gave birth to a son David Dines Wheeler in 1875 in Newbury as the birth registration for this child records his mother’s maiden name as Pung. This child died not long after he was born.

In 1878 Emma had another child, Edward Henry, born in Devon in 1877.

In 1881 Emma was recorded as a Dressmaker living at 105 Goldhawk Road Hammersmith London with her children, Charles (16), Emma (12) and Edward (3)

In 1891 they family were living at 36 Radipole Road Fulham London.
