Paul Phillips
c1769-1861
Paul was born in Hampshire he was baptised at All Saints Monk Sherborne Hampshire on the 1st April 1770 and was the son of Philip and Anne Phillips (nee Browne) who were married at All Saints Monk Sherborne on the 12th Nov 1757

By 1798 Paul was living in Greenham Berkshire. He married Ann Kinshslough on the 2nd September 1798 at St Mary’s Church Thatcham. They had at least one child, Charlotte, born c1799. Anne died and Paul remarried in 1806, his 2nd wife was Ann Waldron, both were from Greenham, they married on the 28th July 1806 at St Mary’s Thatcham.
In all census records Paul was recorded as a Tailor.
The 1815 census of Newbury records the family living at James Kimbers (East Side of Bartholomew Street) Newbury. The family were recorded as follows: Paul (44), Ann (35), Charlotte (16), Charles (8), Ann (6) and Henry (3).
The 1841 census records Paul (65) living in Bartholomew Street with Ann (55), Ann (25) and Alfred (15)
In 1851 Paul (82), Ann (71, born Lambourn Berkshire) and their daughter Ann (42) were living in Dibley’s Yard.
The 1861 census records Paul as a widower aged 92, living in Dibley’s Yard Newbury.
Paul died aged 92 in 1861 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 18th December.
