Leah Hamblin

c1792-1862

Leah was born on the 23^rd September 1792 in Speenhamland Berkshire she was baptised on the 1^st November 1792 at the (Independent) Lower Meeting House Newbury and was the daughter of Adam & Betty Hamblin. She married Richard Hamblin in Shaw-cum-Donnington Newbury in 1813. Richard was born c1782 and was a Chimney Sweep.

In 1841 the family were living in the parish of St Nicolas Newbury.

Richard died aged 63 in 1844 he was buried on the 28^th October at St Nicolas Newbury

In the 1851 census Leah was recorded as a Chimney Sweep living in Hamblin’s Yard Newbury. In 1861 she was recorded as a widow of a Chimney S weep, living with her son Richard and his family in Bartholomew Street Newbury.

Leah died aged 70 in 1862 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 8^th September.
